About Denver Broncos

History of  Denver

This team started to play in 1960 as a charter member in the American Football League (AFL) and it was only in 1970 that they joined the NFL as part of the merger. It is Pat Bowlen and his trust 0who owns the Broncos and currently play home games at Broncos Stadium at Mile High (formerly known as Invesco Field at Mile High from 2001–2010 and Sports Authority Field at Mile High from 2011–2017). Prior to that, they played at Mile High Stadium from 1960 to 2000.


When they played for 10 years in the AFL, the Broncos were barely active and competitive, and the same trend continued in the first seven years in NFL. It was only in 1973, could they complete a winning tournament. Four years later, in 1977, they for the first time, qualified for the playoffs in their playing history and then they advanced to Super Bowl XII. Since 1975, the Broncos have been known as NFL’s most successful teams; after they suffered seven loses in the initial seasons.


The Broncos  have won eight AFC Championships in the years 1977, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998, 2013, 2015 along withthree Super Bowl championships in the years1997 1998 2015 and funnily they also share the record with New England Patriots of most Super bowl loses of which the number is 5. They have also won two AFC West division titles, and one AFC championship.

In total the Broncos have won AFC West champions 15 times, and from 2011 to 2015 they have won the championship consecutively. They also have earned wild card entries in the playoffs of this championship in total seven times, among the total 22 appearances they have made. They have been champions of the conferences eight times and have tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers once, and two twice with the New England Patriots, who again holds the record of winning most AFC championships and champions league Super Bowl champions thrice.
